Through the Eyes of an Artist - 2008

The opening of the 15th annual “Through the Eyes of the Artist” juried exhibition was exciting this year for many reasons. We received new event sponsorship: Angela & Paul Giraudy and Royal LePage Kingsway Real Estate. We also welcomed The Assembly Hall as a community partner. Denise Dickin, Coordinator of The Assembly Hall, remarked on “future possibilities” while citing significance of Eyes being the first exhibition in the building as part of its opening ceremonies eight ago. “Lakeshore Art’s foundation was initiated with the Eyes exhibition; its sentimental value as a linchpin program has grown with its reputation over the years” enthused Georgia Kuich, President of Lakeshore Arts.

We extend thanks to our jurors this year: Greg Edwards, Nancy Barber and Lorrie Ann Smith, who worked very hard to select 60 pieces from the 120 artworks entered into the show. They focused on themes of creativity and imagination to mount a cutting edge show.

How appropriate it is that our little gem is now being supported by community champions who understand the ripple effect of being invested in the community. Angela Giraudy was on hand to assist with the presentation of awards to winning artists.

See you next year.
